Embedded AI Team — senior pod for 90 days

Drop-in engineers, PM, and architect integrated with your team — not a vendor relationship.

Get a scoping call

Hiring a senior AI team takes 6–9 months. Agency work produces deliverables you can't maintain. The Embedded AI Team is a third path: a pod of senior engineers, a PM, and an architect who sit in your Slack, attend your standups, write your code, and leave you with a codebase and a team that can own it.

What's included

Full engineering capacity
2–4 senior engineers shipping production code in your repo, following your conventions, under your tech lead.
Product management
A senior PM embedded in your planning process — writing PRDs, running sprint reviews, and managing stakeholder communication.
Architecture guidance
A staff-level architect available for design reviews, incident response, and strategic technical decisions.
Knowledge transfer
Documentation, pair programming with your hires, and a structured offboarding that leaves your team autonomous.

How we work

Week 1
Onboarding & alignment
Repo access, codebase walkthrough, backlog review, and sprint 1 kickoff. We're shipping by end of week 1.
Week 2–10
Delivery sprints
Two-week sprints with demos, retrospectives, and weekly stakeholder check-ins. You set the priorities.
Week 11–12
Knowledge transfer
Documentation sprint, pair programming with your growing team, and architecture decision records written up.

Best practices for Embedded AI Team

  • Grant repo write access and production read access by day one

A team that spends week 1 waiting for credentials loses a full sprint before writing a line of code.

  • Set a PR review SLA on day one

Embedded teams without clear integration norms slow down within a week. A simple 24-hour review SLA prevents the most common bottleneck.

  • Pair on architecture decisions in the first two weeks

Architecture decisions made in isolation in month one are expensive to revisit in month three. Pair early.

  • Start knowledge transfer documentation in week 1, not week 10

Async documentation written while context is fresh is an order of magnitude better than a handover doc written under deadline pressure.

The best strategy is the one your engineering team can actually execute. We've worked on both sides of that divide — and we close it.

FAQ

How quickly can you start?
Most engagements start within 2 weeks of contract signature. We match team composition to your immediate roadmap priorities.
Can we hire the engineers at the end?
Yes, with a conversion fee. Several of our embedded engagements have ended with one or more engineers joining the client full-time.
What's the minimum engagement length?
90 days. Shorter engagements don't allow enough time for real knowledge transfer — we won't take them.
How does billing work?
Fixed monthly retainer based on team size. No hourly tracking, no surprise invoices.
